The Partisans • Idiot Nation (2004) Rate: This CD is destined to be one of the greatest Punk albums of all time. After 20 years without recording any new material, one of the best has returned with its best. Originally formed in the summer of 1979, The Partisans was the spawn of the festering angst that emanated from the infamous slums of merry old England. The youthful sound and fury that inspired and defined the first-wave of the Punk Rock revolution has matured into a superior musical battalion that creates great songs with a surprising amount of versatility. This mind-bomb of music and ideas will explode in the consciousness of the listener with practiced skill and relevant social commentary. Sometimes, it is as if the late, great Joe Strummer of The Clash has manifested (in part), in order to lend his mastery to the very same kids who once idolized him. IDIOT NATION has the same rough, Reggae-infused, sound of The Clash circa 79, but The Partisans is no mere tribute band. The music has its own distinctive gritty-smooth, and tough quality that will inspire a whole new generation of young uns to paint this name on the back of countless black leather jackets.
